  1. Mom had a heart attack in 2021. She was taken to one of the top 10 university hospital in North America. Because of COVID they kept her 6 weeks until she got a quadruple bypass. They also monitored a mass on one of her lungs which turned out to be cancerous. 3 months after her bypass she got the mass removed during a 14 day stay at the same world class hospital. Following that she got 6 chemo sessions. She was followed by a 360° nurse, a oncologist, a GP and a respiratory technician.

We got the bill for 1.2 million dollars. Insurance paid 80% but ot still left us with 240k and our insurance costs 1200$/ month. Just her meds are 700$ / month.

I’m kidding. I’m Canadian and it cost us 0$ out of pocket. Meds are capped at 90$/month.

Now you’d think we get hammered on taxes but it’s barely more than what americans pay. My mom makes 40k and her tax rate is 20%.
